Eigth annual Balin/Snickers Pro Junior set for Gunnamatta 18 January

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 January 2006: - - The Balin / Snickers® Pro Junior (Jan. 18 – 22 at Gunnamatta Beach), a $13,000 5-Star Pro Junior event, is a premium event on the ASP Australasian Pro Junior calendar.  The contest is now in its eighth consequtive year, attracting over 200 entrants from 11 countries.  The best junior surfers (under 21) converge on Gunnamatta Beach, Mornington Peninsula. 

Gunnamatta is one of the most consistent beach breaks in Australia, with contestable surf every day of the year, unlike other contests burdened by long waiting periods. The potential for good swell and offshore winds is a huge drawcard for the athletes, part of the reason why the event attracts competitors of such a high calibre.  Competitors often find this event the most powerful and challenging of the series.

Adding to the excitement of the surfing display, there will be a professional skate rail demonstration, lots of give-ways and sponsor activities.  The event will run over five days, beginning on Wednesday with the final on Sunday. The event is made possible through the support of Balin, Snickers®, Four’n Twenty, Dragon Optical and Play It Safe by the Water.
