Billabong World Junior Championships Bring It LIVE To North Narrabeen Beautiful Girls To Play LIVE at North Narrabeen
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 December, 2005 : - - (Sydney, Australia) Looking for something to do on Sydney’s Northern Beaches over the New Year? The Billabong World Junior Surfing Championships are bringing it live and local to North Narrabeen from December 31st-January 8th.
While the worlds best 48 junior men and 18 junior women surfers slug it out for a share in $78,000 prize money, Billabong is laying it on thick, inviting you to get down and enjoy the number of activities on offer, loads of free give-away’s and special guest appearances.
The surfing action fires up on the 31st December and the festivities begin in earnest on January 2nd when 1999 World Surfing Champion, Mark “Occy” Occhilupo, Joel Parkinson, Luke Egan and Rebecca Woods appear in person at North Narrabeen beach to meet, greet and sign autographs. A regular occurrence at Narrabeen over the past three years, the Billabong A Team signings have been a huge hit with local kids, eager to shake hands and share a photo with their surfing idols. The signing will take place at North Narrabeen between 12-1pm.

The festivities on the 2nd will then continue on to the Sydney State Theatre where Parkinson’s tribute surf movie “Free As A Dog, a true dogs tale” will premiere for the first time ever. Filmed and edited throughout 2005 by world renowned surfing cinematographer Jack McCoy, the film is seen through the eyes of Parko’s ever-loyal dog Trey, who is also the film’s narrator, and the remarkable surfing talent of Joel Parkinson is showcased like never before.
Starring alongside Parko are NSW grommets James Wood and Ellis Ericson, both of whom are earmarked to be the bright future of Australian surfing. For the past year Jack, Parko, Woody and Ellis have been chasing waves all over the Australian coast scoring some of the ‘sickest sessions’ to go down in 2005. The film also has a look at Joel’s home turf of Coolangatta and its glorious surfing past. The red carpet affair officially kicks off the Billabong Jack McCoy Surf Film Festival for 2006 and tickets are available at Ticketek.
January 4th will mark the inaugural Billabong Girls Dolly Summer Beach Bash. Incorporating Girls Get Out There surf lessons, girls team signings, live music, Vodafone Beach Volleyball and fashion shows, the Summer Beach Bash is a celebration of all things girl this summer. The Beautiful Girls will play a free LIVE set from North Narrabeen at 2pm, and Billabong team musicians Alex Jackson and Ashleigh Mannix will play live sets throughout the day. Registrations for the Girls Get Out There surf lessons are available on billabonggirls.com.au.
