    Roxy Women's Surfing Festival is Australia's biggest celebration of women's surfing

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 January, 2006 : - - The Roxy Women's Surfing Festival is Australia's biggest celebration of women's surfing, and Phillip Island will turn on some great international surfing action once again in 2006.

    Divisions:
    World Qualifying Series (WQS) 5 star (US$25,000)
    3 A Pro Junior Girls (AU$3000) – 20 Years & Under
    6 A Australian Women’s Longboard ALC Pro Tour (AU$1500) – All ages
    Amateur Divisions – Under 18, 16, 13 girls, Over 35 women – Ages taken from 1/1/2006

    The contest will be based at Woolamai Beach, Phillip Island, Victoria with the flexibility of being mobile around the entire island. Phillip Island is approximately two hours from Melbourne and has over twenty recognized world-class surf breaks, ranging from quality beach breaks to right and left hand reef and point breaks.

    The closing ceremony party and trophy presentations will be held at the Phillip Island Boardriders Club House with DJ's and other entertainment. All girls entered into contest will take to the ocean with the aim of surfing their way towards a share in $28,000 usd in cash and other prizes.

    Phillip Island is approximately 2 hours from Melbourne International Airport and is Victoria’s leading tourist destination attracting approximately 3.5 million visitors each year. It has over twenty recognised surf breaks ranging from quality beach breaks to right and left hand reef and point breaks. The 2006 Roxy Pro Women’s Surfing Festival will be a completely mobile event aimed at putting the world’s best female surfers into a variety of challenging surfing conditions.

    Surfing Equipment:
    January on Phillip Island could see a variety of surfing conditions but most likely surfers will require boards to handle the 3 to 6 foot size range on beach and reef breaks. Water temperature will see surfers most likely needing spring suits, 3x2 ml steamers or similar. Please also remember to bring a hat, water and plenty of sunscreen.
