DR to attend 2006 Reef Pan-American Surfing Games in Peru
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 January, 2006 : - - Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic will participate in the Pan-American Surfing Games, the continent-wide competition that will take place in Punta Rocas resort, near Lima, Peru, from 17 – 22 January.
The Pan-American Surf Association is constituted by 22 countries, and gets together every 2 years to run the Olympic format team event. Due to the number of participants, the event takes an entire week in 2 different stages, which means 2 contests at the same time.
Peru has been selected by the Pan-American Surf association to host the VII edition of the “PAN AMERICAN SURFING GAMES.”
The countries that have confirmed their assistance are: Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Peru as the host.
Every country participates with a team composed of 15 athletes, 2 judges, 1 team manager, 1 coach, 1 assistant and 1 translator (if necessary). The titles will be disputed in the following divisions: Men Open, Junior, Women Open, Long board, Bodyboard Men Open, Bodyboard Women Open.
