Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 January, 2006 : - - Of the 15 teams that started the competition, only Brazil, Guadalupe and Peru are those that still haven't lost any surfer, with all of their surfers still alive on the six division that are being held. These three teams are the favourites to win the prestigious Panamerican Surfing Game Team Champion.

As the sun rose at Punta Rocas, once again perfect six feet waves were breaking, surfing show was seen again, with yesterday's best surfers facing themselves on second round heats. Open and Junior second round, Longboard and Ladies first and second round and Open and Junior repercharges went to the water.

Today's highest combined score was made by three times Peru?s National Champ, SebastiᮠAlarchat made a great backhand approach of the waves. On the best of them, he did the highest single ride of the contest, 8,33 ?tied with Jadson Andre that backed up with a 7. Sebastien said, after he came out of the water: "I am really happy, I was lucky, I got some good waves, thanks God for that, now I am foucused and looking forward to the title. Being local it is good, sometimes it gives you an extra pressure, but if you are able to handle it, goes on your way.

Villaran from Peru, yesterday?s Open Mens round one high combined score, surfed really well, but Brazilian Caetano Vargas beat the local hero doing 12,37. I am really happy for winning that heat and even more to beat the favourite here. I could get some some good ones, specially at the beginning. Now I have to keep on, let?s see what happen.

On the Longboard division, Peru was the standout winning all the heats that Roberto Mesa and Felipe Becerra competed. Mesa rode perfectly all his waves, getting the division highest combined score of the day, 14,76. ?I felt really good, cause basically this is my home and I like to enjoy it with good conditions, have fun, more than feeling competitive ?and that?s how I won the heat?, commented Mesa.

The ladies division was dominated by the Peruvians Brissa Malaga and Analomez that got through in first place at both heats they entered. Analade an amazing heat, posting highest combined score of the ladies division -14,16-. Argentinean Ornella Pellizari also won both heats she entered, also doing some high scoring rides.

On the fourth heat of the second round, Brazilian Gilmar Silva was the first Brazilian to that lost a heat, not being able to beat Fred Amoux from Guadalupe and Jesmarin Puente from the Dominican Republic. Later that day, on the fifth heat of the first round for girls, Marina Werneck lost in a very close match in which she tied with Chilean SofBorquez in her two best waves, so the tie break was made in the third best score, Borquez had a ride of more than one point, while Werneck had no third wave. Marco Kammers didn?t have a happy heat, other than breaking his longboard, he faced a inspired Mesa.

The repercharge heats took place on the second podium, Peruvian Javier Swayne made the highest combined score of the round, advancing to repercharge second round. On the other hand, Cesar Bauer and Olenka Castro also got through their heats. Eric Coulon from Guadalupe also advanced in Bodyboard. This make Brazil, Guadalupe and Peru the only teams with no losts at all.

Tomorrow at 8:00 PM at Larco Mar, the premiere of the first Latin America Surfing documentary will be held at Larco Mar. The movie, directed by Jose Madalengoitia is sponsored by Saga Falabella. For more information, log on: http://www.alaslatintour.com/noticias/2005/noviembre/cuentos.php.
