    Rip Curl MP Classic

Set to score great waves this weekend.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 February, 2006 : - - The timely arrival of an easterly swell looks like delivering excellent waves for this weekends Rip Curl MP Classic with a reasonable  possibility the event will run on the famous Kirra Point. irra and Michael Peterson are synonymous in Australian surfing.

The amazing talents of the great MP during his famous years through the seventies were honed at Kirra  and the point will always be the preferred venue to run this event. Rip Curl event organizer Mark Flanagan said today " It would be ideal to run at Kirra and lets hope this swell does get big enough - it looks touch and go at this stage if it will be big enough but lets hope so - regardless, we're in for a great event with good swell and a fantastic field!"

The event will start tomorrow morning (Saturday) around 8am, running all day with the final set for approximately  2:30pm on Sunday. A highlight of tomorrows surfing will be the appearance of Rip Curl Team rider Stephanie Gilmore who, on invitation by MP himself, will come and surf the "Malibu Expression Session" which is scheduled for 1pm Saturday.

MP has seen Stephanie surf and describes her surfing as "the best woman surfer I've seen - just fantastic to see the girls surfing like this"
