CYCLONIC CONDITIONS CONTINUE TO HAMMER QUIKSILVER AND ROXY PRO EVENTS

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 March, 2006 : - - Torrential rains and gale force gusts are toppling trees on Australia’s Gold Coast this morning. Also felled are any plans to resume action on the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro events presented by Samsung, the first events on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour and ASP Women’s World Tour.

Three metre (10 to 12 foot) plus and highly unruly surf has pounded Snapper Rocks for the past couple of days, but according to Ben Matson, from Swellnet.com.au, the low pressure system responsible for these conditions is expected to slowly move away from the coastline with an improvement in weather expected starting tomorrow.

"Large surf abating on Sunday with fresh to strong SE winds at first, easing rapidly throughout the afternoon. Light/mod SW winds on Monday with steadily easing wave heights. Smaller surf for Tues, Wed and first light on Thurs. New southerly swell building Thurs lunchtime onwards with small+ waves at Snapper and generally favourable winds. Small+ combination of swells for the weekend." – Swellnet.com.au

Organisers will meet again tomorrow (Monday March 6) at 6.30am to determine the day’s proceedings.

When the Quiksilver Pro resumes the round three heat draw will be:

Quiksilver And Roxy Pro Takes Another Break

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 March, 2006 : - - Surfers in the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro events, presented by Samsung will take another day

off from competition today as the blustery conditions on Australia’s Gold Coast continue.

With strong winds and torrential rain pushing in a large yet out-of-control swell, organizers really didn’t have an option but to call another lay day.

But there is hope on the horizon in that the unpleasant weather is looking to clear in the next 24 hours and the swell is forecast to subside to a size that will be easier to ride.

That being the case there is hope that either the Quiksilver or Roxy events will continue tomorrow morning.

A decision will be made at 6.30am tomorrow morning, local time.

When the Quiksilver Pro resumes the round three heat draw will be:

Heat 1: Phil MacDonald (AUS) vs. Bobby Martinez (USA)
