    Quiksilver King Of The Groms
    Presented by Peugeot and Samsung

    South Africa Junior Series 2006.
Cape Town, East London & Durban North Coast
    March - June 2006

Quiksilver King Of The Groms gets underway.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 March, 2006 : - - Glassy two to three-foot lefts and rights greeted the 90 competitors on the first day of the first Quiksilver King Of The Groms contest at Long Beach in Cape Town. In what turned out to be an epic summer day on the peninsula, the groms and the U20's battled it out in the good, highly contestable conditions.

With the pro format and the exclusion of losers rounds and repecharge heats, it was sudden death for anyone not killing it in each heat. The U20's hit the lineup first, the first wave of the event was ridden by Avro Johnson, and the first heat was taken by an electric Nic Godfrey. Brendon Gibbons also went mental in his heat to win comfortably.

Groms who were dominating the early rounds with hot performances in the cold Atlantic water were Brendan Gibbens and Matthew Bromley, who scored the highest scoring rides of the first round in his heat.

The Quiksilver King Of The Groms presented by Peugeot and Samsung finishes tomorrow afternoon Sunday 5 march 2006.

The Quiksilver King Of The Groms events are mobile, so to find out the venues of each event ph 0728875972 after 07h30 on the days of the respective events, Surfing South Africa sanctions the events and the U20 division is ASP Africa rated – points will go towards the year end ASP Africa Pro Junior Ratings.
