The Air Tahiti Nui/Von Zipper Trials are on HOLD

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 April, 2006 : - - The good news is, we will be starting tomorrow morning at 7am Tahiti Time regardless of conditions and the final two days will be WEBCAST LIVE!!

The even better news is, the swell is predicted to build throughout the day tomorrow, peaking at around 8-10ft (2.5-3m) tomorrow (Saturday) night. Tomorrow will see the completion of 20 Heats, right up to the man on man quarter-finals. The trials event will finish on Sunday at around 1pm, with Wildcards into the Billabong Pro Tahiti Men's Main Event awarded to the winner and runner up.

The Big Guns start arriving in Tahiti as of tomorrow, with 8am-12pm WCT practise sessions scheduled for Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd of May.

Here is the latest five day forecast according to Ben Matson.

Fri: Dominant peaky and average local SE swell easing from about 4-5' to 3-4', background SW swell maintaining size around 3' otherwise. SE winds continuing.

Sat: New S'ly groundswell building all day towards a peak late a'noon or early Sun. Morning size likely to be small (3-4'+), building throughout the day towards a solid 8' on dusk (rogue 10' sets are possible). SE winds tending E/SE.

Sun: Early peak in size generally around 8', but with occasional rogue 10' sets during the first few hours of the day. E/NE winds. Size easing in the a'noon to 6'+, and becoming a little inconsistent.

Mon: Easing size to between 4-6', and quite inconsistent at times. Light/mod E/NE winds. A little smaller in the a'noon.

Tues: Size building again from the south to a peak around 6'+ in the late a'noon, possibly some bigger rogues. Light/mod E/NE winds.

Check back in EARLY tomorrow morning when the Air Tahiti Nui/Von Zipper trials resume.

The Air Tahiti Nui/ Von Zipper Trials are supported by Coke, Hyundai and Bose.
