Team Australia primed for World Junior Championships

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 May, 2006 : - - Team Australia has completed final preparations for their assault on the 2006 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships being held in Maresias, Brazil from May 6 to 14.

Team Australia Head Coach, Sasha Stocker believes this team has the capacity to win, “our team this year has been showing some excellent form in the lead up events to the championships and I am hoping they can continue that form over the next couple of weeks”. Team Australia will compete in the three age divisions of under 18 boys and girls plus under 16 boys. There is also a tag-team event and overall championship team.

Team Australia made a clean sweep of the championships in 2004 and is keen to lay claim to again to the title of “best junior surfing nation” in the world. The team departs from Brisbane airport tomorrow morning. Team Australia would like to recognize the Australian Sports Commission for their ongoing support of the program along with support of the team from Casuarina Domain Resort Rec Club, Rhythm, Salomon, Gorilla Grip, FCS, Endura, and BC Hats.

The annual junior championship is hosted by the International Surfing Association (ISA) with support from Quiksilver. Team profiles are available here
