South Africa continue their good run on day two of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Championships

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 May, 2006 : - - Kyle Lane (Umhlanga) was first up for South Africa and put on an excellent display of surfing in the clean 3 foot waves, narrowly missing the win but advancing to the third qualifying round having secured second place. Klee Strachan (Durban) came third in a close heat but will get another chance in the second repercharge round.

Later in the same round Rudy Palmboom (Bluff) caught a wave in the last minute of his heat and earned the score he required to jump into second place and advance to the third qualifying round.

Jordy Smith (Durban) showed his class by winning his heat with a total of 15.53 out of a possible 20, the highest heat score of the round. Both Rudy and Jordy advanced at the expense of two Brazilian surfers; who will now have to compete in the repercharge rounds

Chantelle Rautenbach (Melkbosstrand) got the girls off to a great start winning her heat convincingly while Tarryn Chudleigh (Scarborough) struggled to catch waves in her heat but still managed a first place.

Nikita Robb (East London) was in good form in her heat and placed first while in the second last heat of the day newcomer to the team Alice McGregor (East London) put in a spirited performance to place second and advance to the first qualifying round along with the other South African girls.

The Under 16 boys qualifying round two, the Under 16 boys repercharge round two, the Under 18 boys repercharge round one and the Under 18 girls qualifying round two will be held on day three.
