Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 June, 2006 : - -   In addition to the massive one hundred thousand Rand first prize for the winner of the 2006 Red Bull Big Wave Africa, Red Bull is proud to announce various Speciality Awards which have been incorporated into the contest.

The Vonzipper Biggest Tube.
Dungeons has been known to throw a few mean barrels on the odd occasion, with previous surfers such as Sean Holmes, Chris Bertish and Grant 'Twiggy' Baker, to name a few, having had the fortune of experiencing some deep pits. The Vonzipper Biggest Tube award, valued at five thousand Rand will be handed to the surfer who pulls in to the biggest barrel on the day.

The Billabong Deep Throat.
The line up of big wave surfers invited to participate in this event are world renowned chargers who sieze every opportunity to catch the biggest and best waves during the contest. Out of these surfers, there is always one individual who pushes the limits, charging anything and everything. This surfer will be awarded ten thousand Rand from Billabong for his efforts.

Sensi Threads Biggest Wave.
The theory behind this big wave surfing event is to catch big waves on a day when Dungeons is producing plenty of them. When the swells are hitting the reef consistently at 20-foot there are always going to be some rogue waves. Sometimes surfers are in position for these waves, while others hold back and wait for the more controlled sets.

This year, as motivation to get surfers over the ledge on the freak sets, Sensi Threads have signed a cheque for twenty-five thousand Rand for the surfer catching the biggest wave!

With the inclusion of these Speciality Awards the surfers are given an added chance of being rewarded for their outstanding efforts.

With Dungeons going into swell season, and with the Cape bracing itself for a barrage of storms, things look set to hot up over the next few weeks.
