Carlos Burle to Join Finisterre as Their First Ambassador
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 June, 2006 : - - St Agnes, North Cornwall, UK - Finisterre is stoked to welcome Carlos Burle as their first ambassador. Finisterre have searched for over five years to find their first ambassador, the most important part of the relationship being a true synergy between surfer and brand. Burle's proven track record, seasoned experience and environmental outlook was the perfect fit.
"The move has come at an exciting stage in my career,' said Carlos, 'I feel like my surfing is only getting better as I get older. Finisterre is a truly authentic surf company making highly functional technical product that assists my quest for big waves."
"It is important for me to align my personal beliefs with those of my sponsor, and in this respect, the commitment behind the development and genuine need for their products is one I totally believe in. The environmental initiatives that these guys have going on is something that is also close to me and an area that I will be getting specifically involved with."
A student of both paddle and tow-in surfing disciplines, Carlos has established himself as one of the most formidable opponents within the big wave arena. "Carlos has proven himself as one of the sports great athletes. There is more to this industry than next year's bottom line - environmental commitment and longevity is something we have always stood for.
In this respect, Carlos seemed like the best fit to take Finisterre's mission statement to the masses - the pushing of innovation and technical apparel within the surf industry in ways that will provide for the surfer and protect the environment - period.", said Finisterre founder, Tom Kay.
Carlos' achievements include winning at both cold water big wave spots Todos Santos and Mavericks, as well as invitee to both the Eddie Aikau Invitational and the Red Bull Big Wave Challenge. He spends Northern Hemisphere winters on the North Shore and the remainder of the time training for big swells around the world. This year this will include a Finisterre Cold Water Frontiers trip to Ireland in October. www.finisterreuk.com
