BILLABONG PRO JEFFREYS BAY OFF FOR SUNDAY, JULY 16

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 July, 2006 : - - With small swell and onshore winds hitting the famed Jeffreys Bay natural amphitheatre, organizers of the Billabong Pro have once again called a lay day. Swell forecasts indicate that solid swell will hit the area within the next 24 to 48 hours and it is hoped that competition will resume tomorrow (Monday July 17).

The massive pointbreak lineup is completely empty this morning as only meager waves lap in, but as per usual the Jeffreys Bay sunrise was more than spectacular. All are excited about the round two draw which many see as being the most talent-lined ever. Most of the top 15 in the world were relegated to round two after slow starts in round one. (Winners of the first round head directly to round three while second and third head to round two.)

And with the first five heats containing the top five seeds on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour, it is expected that sparks will fly when the best of the best in the surfing world return to competition.

Stay tuned to www.billabongpro.com or www.aspworldtour.com for all the LIVE action and event updates.
