History made during a three-award set?

Greg Long scores possible XXL Award winner at Dungeons

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 August, 2006 : - - One three-wave set was tow-surfed by Greg Long, Simon Louw and Mike Schlebach. The first one was the GIANT that Greg rode. They've seen the photos. They saw each other on the waves. They concur this one could be one of the biggest waves ever ridden. The wave face was roughly 70 feet or more. But we must wait before we see the pictures.

That was the first wave. The second wave, ridden by Simon, was another growler. It was smaller (only 60 feet?) but he wiped horrendously over the slab. Mike towed into another mother behind him. He pulled into one of the heaviest tubes you can imagine, a 50 foot top to bottom suckthing that growled across the entire slab. Mike was spat out about a 100 metres later. Perhaps he tamed the beast by tickling its tummy?

The verdict? All three awards at the XXL - biggest wave, heaviest wipeout, biggest tube!
