Blue Tomato Wins Two European Retail Solution Awards
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 August, 2006 : - - Austrian retailer Blue Tomato was honored with not one but two awards in Birmingham, England, for its on-line store, the world's largest snowboard web shop. The company beat a number of entered projects in European Retail Solution Awards categories “E-Commerce Use Retail” and “European Retail Technology Solutions”.
Blue Tomato and its German software supplier hybris received the awards together, and thus joined companies such as Ikea, Fujitsu Services, and Hilton Hotel Group, the winners of other categories.
Alexander Zezula, Manager E-Business for Blue Tomato, accepted the award in England: “We are proud and very pleased that the success of our e-commerce solution is validated not only by our customers but also by this award. The jury particularly liked our sophisticated customer personalization and the business logic it is based on.” Blue Tomato posted revenue growth of 30 percent last year.
This year marked the company's entry into the summer business, and the result is already 70 to 80 percent growth for the brand retailer. The reason cited for this success is the new summer catalogue, with 100,000 copies published as an insert in the snow- and skateboard magazines "Playboard" and "Surf Europe".
