O'Neill Trophy
Presented by La Caja de Canarias

ASP 2 Star WQS Mens Event
Guia de Isora, Los Realejos Tenerife
4 - 8 October 2006

Live Coverage  |  Results/Photos/Videos etc

Contest Is Off. Check In at 9.30 AMTomorrow at “El Socorro”

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 October, 2006 : - - The 9 AM check in brought everyone together for the first call of the canarian leg, beginning with the 9th O’Neill Trophy presented by La Caja de Canarias. The wave of Punta Blance wasn’t offering any competition possibilities, and in order to give time to the organisers to move the competition site to the north, it was decided to call the contest off for the day.

After giving a look to the forecasts, it is obvious the north beach of El Socorro will be getting most of the next swell. The 9th O’Neill Trophy will thus move today to the back up venue, and get ready for a kick off tomorrow at 9.30 AM

No heats will be running today. Have a good day, we will try to give you a few pics of the island by the end of the day, chasing as well some of the pros driving around searching for waves. Catch up later,

Check in at 9.30 AM at “El Socorro” tomorrow Thrusday, Oct. 5th for competitors.

O'Neill Trophy WQS waiting period kicks off Wednesday in Tenerife Canarias

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 October, 2006 : - -The 9th O'Neill Trophy presented by La Caja de Canarias will take place from Oct. 4th to 8th on the beautiful island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. After running several years at the famous righthander of Las Americas, this year will see another perfect shaped wave welcome the 2 Star WQS event.

In order to get the most of the swells coming around the island, the event will be mobile between the perfect reef of Puntablanca to the South of the island (Main Venue), and the beachbreak of El Socorro to the North (Back Up Location).

The 9th O'Neill Trophy is the first of the famous "Canarian Triple Crown" that will go from Tenerife to Gran Canaria, finishing with Lanzarote. The three events will close the Asp Europe season, crowning the Women and Men European Champions, and giving all international surfers the opportunity to grab precious points during the 2 Star, 3 Star and 4 Star WQS events held from Oct. 4th to 22nd.
