Invitees Announced For 3rd Annual North Shore Tow-In Surfing Championship

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 November, 2006 : - - The “3rd Annual North Shore Tow-In Surfing Championship” is ‘ON’ once again for the upcoming 2006/2007 Winter Big Wave Surf Season on Oahu in Hawaii. The holding period for the Event will be December 15th, 2006 – March 31st, 2007, with the actual contest to take place ONE DAY ONLY on the Biggest and Best day of Surf on the Outer Reefs known as Avalanche and Puaena Point which are over a mile outside of Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. The confirmed minimum prize purse for this year’s event is minimum $25,000.00.

This year, the APT  has come on board as the Event Sanctioning Representative Body. The APT has created and launched the “APT World Tour Tow-In Surfing Circuit” for 2006-2007. This is Huge News for the Extreme Sport of Big Wave Tow-In Surfing and Tremendous News for Hawaii, the “Big Wave Capital of the World”.

APT Vice President: Rodney Kilborn will be representing the circuit as the official APT event sanctioning director. Rodney’s job will be to support all event directors in every aspect of the contest including finalizing all invite lists with each director. His responsibility also includes the implementation of APT’s event rules, heat format, judging, water safety, membership and state tow-in licensing requirements.

Rodney provides the APT with many years of experience with a solid reputation acting as the event director for two successful tow-in events held at Pe’ahi/Jaws on the North Shore of Maui. 

The “3rd Annual North Shore Tow-In Surfing Championship 2006-2007” should be bigger and better than ever this year. With another planetary “El Nino” weather episode having begun in the Equatorial Pacific in October 2006, the waves should get massive in Hawaii during this year’s 2006-2007 Winter Big Wave Surf Season on Oahu.

All invited competitors for the North Shore Tow-In Surfing Championship 06/07 will be asked to show proof of obtaining the required Hawaii State Tow-In License, provided by Windward Community College on Oahu in Hawaii prior to the start of the event. The contact number for the Hawaii State Tow-In License is @ 808-235-7428 for fees and class dates. Presently classes are slated for November 4-5 and 18-19 from 9AM-3PM and there is also a one day class on December 16th from 9AM-6PM.

Legendary Surf-Forecaster George Mason is also Staff Meteorologist for the North Shore Tow-In Surfing Championship itself, and he will be calling the Day of Days for the 06/07 Event with his extremely accurate Hawaii Big Wave Surf Episode Predictions.
