Victorian Surfers standout and Call for Big Waves at Bells to take on their interstate and international Rivals!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 January, 2007 : - - In some of the best clean small surf at Jan Juc Beach today, local Victorian surfers showed their interstate rivals that they are on a serious mission to take best advantage of their local knowledge as they try and win the highly rated Kustom – Jetty Surf Pro Junior.

Finn Barry (Apollo Bay) and Cahill Bell Warren (Bells Beach) both advanced comfortably through their round two heats and were confident they could  go a long way further at this event. In round three both surfers take on the highest seeded surfers from Australasia

Pleased with his form today Bell Warren said after his heat – “That’s a good way for me to start the season but it’s only round two and I now need to focus on excellent scores in every heat to keep advancing – there’s no other way so it’s a simple equation to go out and score 8 point plus rides!”

Bell Warren will this year concentrate all his energies on the Australasian Pro Junior circuit have completed year 12 last year – “ I’ll follow the circuit throughout Australia and New Zealand and work hard at getting strong results – the Australasian Pro Junior Circuit is definitely the strongest pathway to Open professional surfing so over he coming two years these events are what I have to try and succeed.”

“I’m confident I can do well here particularly if we’re surfing Bells – It looks like a good swells coming so for me I want it as big as it can possibly get and I’ll be even more confident I can keep winning!” Bell – Warren lives just behind the Bells Beach break and would certainly be the most familiar surfer with the break.

Apollo Bay’s Finn Barry is in his final year as a Pro Junior and also plans to follow the circuit extensively this year – After his win Barry said “ I have to give it my best shot this year and I’ll do all 12 events for sure – It’s really my last year so I have to give it as good a shot as I can.”

Barry will face NSW sth coast surfer Ashley King in round three while Bell Warren  faces an interesting surfer in Portugal’s Nicholas Von Rupp. Von Rupp has been extremely impressive in the early rounds easily winning his round one and two heats.

Others to impress included South African Chad De Toit, Hawaiian’s Casey Brown and Hank Gaskell along with New Zealand surfers Ryan Hawker and Kieren Van Der Helder who all won through round two in the good surf at Jan Juc today.

Of the Australian’s Queensland pair Brent Dorrington (Coolangatta) and Julian Wilson (Sunshine Coast) were both extremely high scoring and confident round two heat winner.

The Girls round two heats were also run today and tomorrow is expected to see the highly seeded girls enter the water for their round three and four heats which will introduce the top seeds.
