Hot Tuna Summer Classic Waits for Perfect Waves Due Tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 January, 2007 : - - With perfect northerly offshore winds and a clean straight groundswell forecast to arrive Friday, organizers of the Hot Tuna Summer Classic have taken the popular option  to postpone today’s Men’s and Women’s Open professional divisions.

Surfing Victoria’s Craig Clarke commented on the decision this morning saying “With outstanding surfing conditions forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday we all thought it best to call a lay day for the Hot Tuna today.

We will run the event comfortably in the two and a half days so we’re aiming to put these guys, who include many of the best longboard surfers in the world into ideal conditions and having checked the weather and swell forecasts thoroughly the obvious choice is to wait for the hot northerly offshore to kick in so tomorrow morning we’re 100% assured of running!”

Grant Thomas (Maroochydore/Qld), the number 2 seeded surfer at this event, commented on the delay to tomorrow by saying “Great Decision to hold off,it’s marginal today and  the weather charts look like the surf will pump tomorrow and right through the weekend and there’s nothing better than excellent waves for a whole event. Off shore winds and good swells seem assured so bring it on!”

Conditions at the events three main venues of Flinders, Rye and Gunnamatta were marginal this morning.  Competitors were initially put on hold at 7:00am with a recall at 10:30am when organizers made the decision to hold off on the Professional divisions.

The amateur divisions of Junior Boys and Girls will be surfed throughout this afternoon and the main event of the Hot Tuna Summer Classic will begin early tomorrow morning. World Champion Longboarder Josh Constable set for Hot Tuna Summer Classic along Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
