Womens Pipeline Pro
Presented by Heavywater Magazine

ASP WQS 1 Star Womens Event
Pipeline, North Shore Oahu
6 - 16 March 2007

Sink or swim! The Womens Pipeline Pro treads water for 2007 without a Title Sponsor!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News
, 9 February, 2007 : - - Despite no title sponsor as yet for the event, The Womens Pipeline Pro is kicking into gear. This event is the first of its kind at this venue including three disciplines, bodyboarding, shortboarding and longboarding. An all Women cast of extreme surfers. Only the best dare surf the Pipeline!  I am always following my heart in producing cutting edge projects, this is a big project." Says Betty Depolito, Contest Director.

" I came to the North Shore when it was the Wild West and there were few Women surfers. I have seen the progression of Women out at Pipe and this is their opportunity to challenge themselves. This event is sort of the pressure cooker for a lot of people. Everyone though will see what happens. This year we will have epic surf and it will be a beautiful thing! We thank all our sponsors who support these Women in their endeavors."

Organizers are proud to announce that the event has been upgraded with a minimum $11,000.00 purse and over $10,000 in prizes. Surfboards will be provided by Kimo Green of Sand Island Surfboards and Ben Aipa who will also be coaching Bethany Hamilton. Hamilton along with other Pipegirlz like Alana Blanchard, the 2004 Champion, the NSSA National Champion Carissa Moore and the top ASP International girls will be competing.

In the bodyboarding division Japans Aoi Koike and Chigusa Nishiyama will lead the way for a large contingent of ladies from Japan! Womens bodyboarding has seen a growth in recent years and is a huge sport internationally.

The Womens Pipeline Pro presented by Heavywater Magazine and TV would like competitors to know that there are grants available for athletes through The Duke Kahanamoku Foundation. The Duke Kahanamoku Foundation is one of the contributing sponsors for this years competition. We thank them and all of our dedicated donators for their help in continuing this event.

Heavywater Magazine and Heavywater TV will play a big role this year presenting the contest. "With today's Wahine charging the surf of the North Shore, the kamikaze attitude raises the bar every time they paddle over the ledge at the Pipeline."  expressed Reid Inouye. "We know the spot is made for men, but in this new era of surfing, riding the Pipe for the girls is "Heavywater".

Also playing a large role is surfinglive.com who will air the 2-day event live on the internet. Surf News Network will aid in forecasting and on site reports, the hotline number is 596-7873. For contest updates and information log on to banzaibetty.com. Contest photos are provided by Seaductive Sportswears Aaron Bernard at liquidlightimages.com. Seaductive has been a godsend in helping this event step into 2007. Mahalo!

The womens Pipeline Pro produces a contest poster and magazine program guide for the event. For sponsorship inquiries please feel free to call. Deadline is February 20 for all artwork. Mahalo! For information please contact Contest Director Betty Depolito in Hawaii. banzaib@hawaii.rr.com 808-781 2535.
