Josh Constable Wins Noosa Festival of Surfing Pro Men’s Division Chelsea Williams Claims Victory in Pro Women’s Division Final
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 March, 2007 : - - Noosa, QLD - - Current World Longboard Champion Josh Constable (Noosa Heads, QLD) has won the final of the Odyssey 20/20 Men’s Pro division at the Noosa Festival of Surfing today. The robust natural footer surfed brilliantly in the 30 minute decider, registering 8.83 and 9.00 point rides for a final tally of 17.83 out of a possible 20 points in the AUD$7,500 ASP Australasia rated event.
Clean 1 meter waves were on offer at Noosa’s First Point. Constable put on both a progressive and traditional diplay of surfing, bringing the spectator gallery to their feet on numerous occasions. For Josh it is the realization of a dream that has eluded him since 2002, when he last tasted victory at the Noosa Festival.
“All week I have done my best to stay focused on my surfing and simply enjoy it and the whole Festival atmosphere here in Noosa and it worked for me, I am so happy, tonight I will celebrate with my family and friends who mean everything to me”, Constable said.

Josh, who had recently signed a new sponsorship deal with Noosa Longboards in the weeks leading up to the festival is now a co owner in the business and had a lot on his mind, “We were flat out doing a whole refurbishment on the Noosa store which meant long days and draining nights, but the entire team really wanted to be open for business by the time the Festival started and it seems that all the hard work was definitely worth it”, Constable said.
It was a one - two victory for the Noosa locals with 17year old surfing whiz kid Harrison Roach securing a second place finish after scoring an 8.23 in the final seconds, shutting the gate on Jackson Close of the Gold Coast and Harley Ingleby (Coffs Habour, NSW).
The result for Roach is a real confidence booster, “I felt great out there all week and I surf this spot a lot so I know it well, but to finish ahead of such great surfers like Harley and Jackson is pretty cool”, said Roach.

Harley Inlgeby failed to find form in the final with wave selection the main reason for his fourth place result. He turned heads with his surfing throughout the week, but couldn’t find the right canvas to put it down on today. Jackson Close too was a true contender until Roach shut the gate in the final moments.
The Banana Boat Women’s Pro division final saw New South Wales surfers claim the top three spots in the final. Three time Australian longboard champion Chelsea Williams proved too strong with a two wave total of 16.66. Williams put on a dazzling display of high speed carves, nose rides and sweeping cutbacks to post a 9.33, the highest scoring wave of the thirty minute final.
“Noosa is such a great wave and the whole festival is awesome, so I was really looking forward to this win. It caps off a fantastic week”, said Williams. Lisa Nicholson placed second with 14.57 points, while Isabelle Braley finished third with Hawaii’s Crystal Dzigas placed fourth.
