Lizzard Nandos Surf Pro presented by the Weekend Witness
ASP 1 Star Mens Event ASP Pro Jr Grade 1 Event SSA PST 2A rated Womens Event New Pier, Durban South Africa 6 - 9 April 2007
First International Entry Recieved for Lizzard Nandos Surf Pro
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 March, 2007 : - - Australian surfer Cory Ziems has confirmed his entry for this year’s one star World Qualifying Series (WQS) Lizzard Nandos Surf Pro, presented by the Weekend Witness, which takes place at Durban's New Pier from 6- 9 April 2007.
Rated 36th on the ASP WQS at the end of 2006, Ziems is a supremely talented surfer who hails from the Gold Coast of Australia and has shown exceptional promise on the WQS stage; including finishing second at the five star WQS in Newquay last year.
Ziems picked up sponsorship with Lizzard at the start of the year, when the Durban based surf wear brand expanded into the Australian market and joins a decorated South African team including South Africa’s first male and female ASP World Tour surfers Paul Canning (Umhlanga) and Heather Clark (Port Shepstone) as well as accomplished WQS campaigners Antonio Bortoletto (Durban) and Gavin Roberts (Scottburgh).
The Lizzard Nandos Surf Pro is one of only three WQS events to be staged on the African continent in 2007 and organisers are anticipating a considerable international field as surfers jump at the opportunity to earn vital ASP ratings points. The points count towards their year end rating and could help them qualify for the prestigious ASP World Tour in 2008.
Now in its third year, the US$ 10 000 (R70 000) event is one of the most anticipated on the professional surfing calendar, boasting the largest Pro Junior Boys event in Africa, which has a Grade 1 ASP Africa rating and offers US$5000 in prize-money. The event also includes the 2A rated Surfing South Africa PST R5000 Women’s division.

Entries for the WQS event will remain open until Tuesday 20 March 2007 and entries for the women’s division close on 24 March.
