Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 March, 2007 : - - The European Surfing Federation are sadened inform you that last night Vinicio Pereira passed away. Vinicio- Vinnie, to his friends, was one of the pioneers of surfing in Portugal. He was a founder member of the Portuguese Surfing Federation, the FPS, and of the Surf Association of Aveiro.
From 1993 to 1995 he was also President of the European Surfing Federation. At various times he was on the national selection of the FPS and President of the Arbitration Committee of the FPS. He had good technical knowledge and was always ready to help and share this for the benefit of surfers and surfing. He will be sadly missed by his friends both in out of Portugal.
The European Surfing Federation extends its condolences to his family. Members wishing to express their condolences are requested to do so through the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
His funeral takes place on Saturday March 24th at the Church of The Misericordia, Vila do Conde.

Les Fédération Française, Portugaise et Européenne de Surf sont tristes de vous informer de la disparition d’une des légendes du surf portugais, Vinicio- Vinnie.Vinicio-Vinnie, pour ses amis, était l’un des pionniers du surf au Portugal. Il était également l’un des membres fondateurs de la Fédération Portugaise de Surf (FPS) et de « Surf Association of Aveiro ».
De 1993 à 1995, il présida l’Association Européenne de Surf. Il fut aussi à de nombreuses reprises le sélectionneur national de l’équipe Portugaise, ainsi que le président du Comité d’Arbitrage de la Fédération Portugaise de Surf. Vinicio-Vinnie n’a jamais hésité à offrir et partager toute sa connaissance et son expérience du surf, pour voir évoluer au mieux cette pratique qu'il adorait tant.
La Fédération Française de Surf et tous ses membres présentent leurs plus sincères condoléances à sa famille et ses proches.
Les funérailles se tiendront samedi 24 mars à l’église de la Miséricorde, Vila do Conde, Portugal.
