Tropical Storm Wilma developing in Caribbean Sea.
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17, October, 2005 : - - (05h10 ET) Tropical Depression 24 in the western Caribbean Sea has become better organized this morning and is now Tropical Storm Wilma. In the short term, expect showers and locally breezy conditions for Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. The forecast calls for Wilma to continue strengthening and has it near hurricane strength in about 2 days. All interests in the northwestern Caribbean should monitor the progress of Wilma closely.
Elsewhere, the tropics are generally quiet. Tropical Depression 16-E in the eastern Pacific could become Tropical Storm Pilar, but poses no threat to land. In the western Pacific, Typhoon Kirogi – although strong – will not have a major impact on any land masses. Expect highs waves on the order of 12-18 feet along the southern coast of Japan as the typhoon passes to the south.
