Lizzard Tag Series Event #1
Surfing South Africa Strand Beach Cape Town South Africa 28 - 29 July 2007
LIZZARD TAG SERIES # 1 POSTPONED DUE TO WILD CAPE WEATHER AND STORM SURF
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 July, 2007 : - - The first event in the Lizzard Tag Series, which was scheduled to take place at the Strand in the Western Cape this Saturday and Sunday (July 28& 29), has been called off due to the wild weather and storm surf which has hit the Cape Peninsula this week.
Predictions of gale force North West winds, driving rain and 20 foot surf at the weekend have forced Surfing South Africa and sponsors Lizzard International to postpone the event to September 15 & 16.
The unique contest has attracted a huge entry of over 70 young boys and girls of all levels of ability and from every surfing community in the Western Cape and it was felt that the inclement weather would have spoiled what organisers would like to be a fun event, while the storm surf was not ideal for the participants, some of whom are as young as eight.
Gavin Roberts of Lizzard said that they were "sorry to have to postpone the contest" but both Lizzard and Surfing South Africa felt that the decision taken was in the best interests of the young surfers.
