Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 August, 2007 : - - El Salvador is receiving the best of the Latin American surfing in a four stars event that promises good waves and a first class surfing. From tomorrow morning, Thursday 30 of August, to Saturday the 1 st of September the best surfers from all Latin America will be surfing the wave of Punta Roca, in the department of La Libertad, fighting to won and get good points in this sixth stop of the Latin Tour. They all have the same dream: becoming the Latin American Champion 2007.
Today, the waves reached a height of 4 to 6 feets. In the morning the wind absence generated waves with good form. Towards the 10am, when the wind entered, the conditions were deteriorated. Nevertheless, the level of surfing was really good. The surfers are already training in the same wave where the competition will take place tomorrow.
For the first day of competition it`s expected the presence of wind, nevertheless the competition will begin at 8am. The forecasts foretell that the waves will be going down until Friday when the waves will recover their size offering a great final session.
The Peruvian Sebastián Alarcón, leader of the Latin ranking, has´n arrive yet at El Salvador, but it`s confirmed that he will defend his position in this stop of the circuit; whereas the Brazilian Ernesto Nunes, who steps on the Alarcón`s ankles, is already surfing Punta Roca`s wave warming up his show. The Argentinean Martin Passeri, actual Latin American Champion, is in the third place of the ranking. The competition is really hard towards the end part of the tour.
In woman`s category there is a short difference of points between the competitors. Nevertheless, the Chilean Sofía Borquez is the first in the ranking followed by the Peruvian Valeria Solé. The Peruvian Analí Gómez, third in the last Latin event in Brazil and second in the world-wide junior championship, has confirmed her attendance and therefore elevate the competition expectation.
The recognized surfer Willber "police" Albarenga, is one of the most representatives surfers for El Salvador. Two years ago he obtained the second place in this same spot after the Peruvian Gustavo Reategui who won the event. Albarenga has been preparing, along with other Salvadoran surfers, in Nicaragua looking for good waves that allow him to arrive prepared at the competition and won the event this year.
