Big Wave Hunters Ramon Navarro and Christian Merlello tackle Giant XXL swell in Southern Chile 

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 September, 2007 : - - With the holding period over for the Gottaplay.com/APT Iquique, Chile International Tow-In Surfing Championship and a giant swell aimed for Southern Chile, it was a dream come true for big wave hunters Ramon Navarro and his tow partner Christian Merello.

"This was some of the biggest surf we have ever towed into here in Southern Chile. It was so amazing that Christian and I were the only team towing all day long"- Says, Ramon Navarro

The swell peaked at a solid 20' on the buoys in this remote Southern Chile location and by the time the swell moved up the coast to Iquique, it had dropped in size and consistency. Reports from Fletcha Escobar said that the swell still produced solid 30'-35' face heights in Iquique but the surf was very inconsistent all day.
