Carcavelos Welcomes Last 2007 European Pro Surf Tour Event !

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 October, 2007 : - - Here are we are... After twelve WQS events that brought the most spectacular european surfing ever, the Estoril Coast Pro will award the last crown of 2007 next Sunday, November 4th, in Carcavelos and crown our regional champion.

With our top european surfers ready to seize the ultimate opportunity of the year on their soil, and the precious US$ 7 000 winner’s reward, the show will once again be on fire, led by the man of the moment after his stunning comeback and victory in the Santa Pro 6 STAR Prime WQS in Lanzarote, Patrick Beven (FRA).

Leader of the European Pro Surf Tour ratings for the past three months, Aritz Aranburu (EUK) will try and get another solid result to confirm his first regional title. With his current 9th place on the international WQS ratings, the dynamic basque surfer from Zarautz is about to wrap up what will be his best year on tour, at 22 years old only.

Winner of the Hang Loose Pro 5 STAR Prime WQS in Brazil last February, fourth in the Reef Vendée Pro 4 STAR WQS and runner-up in the Sooruz Lacanau Pro 6 STAR WQS in France, fourth in the Movistar Pantin Classic 4 STAR WQS in Spain and winner of the Zarautz Pro Surf 3 STAR WQS in the Basque Country, Aranburu is about to quailfy for next year’s ASP World Tour and won’t let go another opportunity to confirm his supremacy over european professional surfing.

With all current top 10 regional surfers ready to chase the leader and keep another title away from him, the level will once again reflect the improvment of our regional surfing in general, showing how 2007 will remain a turning point in the history of ASP Europe, with currently three surfers in reach of the 2008 ASP World Tour, ready to join our wonderkid Jeremy Flores (FRA). Former top 45 surfer, current WQS #12 and European #3, Miky Picon (FRA) will try and win his first title of the year in Portugal next weekend, before leaving for the last and crucial Hawaiian events.

The Estoril Coast Pro will showcase as well our best ASP Europe pro Junior surfers including 2007 champion Romain Cloitre (REU), the young guard not losing any time to join the WQS circuit and start their career straight away against the region’s most experienced surfers.

From Europe’s promissing young and rising generation to its international top 15 WQS representatives, the final event of the year will be LIVE on http://surf.sapo.pt and www.aspeurope.com and close a great year of action, with all best regional campaigners answering the call.

Estoril Coast Pro is organized by Alfarroba, along with main sponsors Junta de Turismo da Costa do Estoril and Câmara Municipal de Cascais, and co-sponsor Rip Curl. Also important is support coming from Red Bull, Sapo.pt, Microsoft, Polen Surfboards, Fonte Viva, LG Computers, Triumph Motorcycles, Konica Minolta, Surfrider Foundation Europe, Buondi, B!, Fiat, Nokia and Association of Surfing Professionals Europe.

To help on the event’s diffusion, we count on Antena 3, Correio da Manhã, Sport Tv, Record, RTP, Surf Portugal, Sport Life, Surf.Sapo.Pt, Conquilha.Com, Hi-Life.Tv and magazine PcMais.
