Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 31 December, 2007 : - - The New Year is upon us and it’s a time to celebrate all the hard work and effort put forth in 2007 and welcome in ’08 with a bang. It’s a time to remember all the epic sessions, hard-fought heats, bitter defeats and sweet victories. Last week, we heard about how the ladies of the ASP Top 17 would spend the holidays, and this week we’ve caught up with a few members of the ASP Top 45 to hear how they will ring in the New Year. Read on to find out how Kelly, Mick, Taj and slew of others will bring in 2008…

Mick Fanning (AUS) - "I am going snowboarding in Japan with a group of friends. I’m so excited - it should be amazing."

Pancho Sullivan (HAW) - "I will be spending the New Year’s at a family wedding reception with my wife and children. Just a nice, mellow celebration with the family.

Taylor Knox (USA) - "Well, on New Year’s Eve, I’m going to be at a very nice dinner and then proceed to a local bar that was built in the 1800’s called the Saloon. Good times will be had by all! I want to start the New Year around friends with a smile on my face..."

Travis Logie (ZAF) - "I’m having the Karaoke World Championships and a Braai at my house."

Kai Otton (AUS) - "I’ll be spending New Year’s down the far south coast at Tathra. My friend owns a bangin’ bar/restaurant and is turning it into a party venue...all time..."

Kelly Slater (USA) - "I’ll be hanging on vacation in Hawaii with my girlfriend and her family. Just relaxing, surfing and golfing. Pretty quietly really. Get ready for a new year where I have a few plans up my sleeve for a fun year."

Joel Parkinson (AUS) - "I’m looking for something to do..."

Taj Burrow (AUS) - "I’ll be kicking off the New Year here on Yallingup Hill in West Oz. We’re going to start with bocce and beers on my parents beautifully maintained lawn, then we’ll be heading to my house for a BBQ, then we’ll finish the evening at Jake ’the snake ’ Paterson’s place where he is having a house wrecking party...woooooo!"

Bede Durbidge (AUS) - "For New Year’s, I will be up on Straddie in the day, then at night, in Brisbane partying at my fiancee’s friend’s place - should be a great last day and night of this year."

Jeremy Flores (FRA) - "Well, it’s very simple - I’m going to be on the plane from Honolulu to Sydney for New Year’s! Boring haha."

Damien Hobgood (USA) - "Nothing too major. I’ll just be hanging in Florida with family and friends."

Adrian Buchan (AUS) - "For New Year’s, I will be hanging with my girl and my friends on the Central Coast. We’re getting dressed up and going to the races to have a few drinks and a punt. Then I’m going to support my favorite team in the world, the Central Coast Mariners in the football A-league! Cant wait!"

Ben Dunn (AUS) - "I’ll be spending New Year’s in Forster with my chick and a few friends. Dinner, then my mates house party."
