Gravis donating $2,000 in product for Wheels 2 Water

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 January, 2008 : - - Irvine, Ca -- In an effort to spread the holiday cheer Gravis Footwear donated over $2,000 dollars in product to the Wheels 2 Water Foundation, an Orange County based non profit organization who helps share ocean experiences to individuals with spinal cord injuries.

“When I first heard about Wheels 2 Water I was deeply moved by the work they were doing,” said Fabrice Le Det, General Manager of Gravis.  “Surfing is one of my greatest joys in life and something that the Gravis brand is deeply rooted in - I believed that we could help make a difference by donating some Gravis goods.”

Wheels 2 Water was founded by Travis Tremble last year when he took a paralyzed friend surfing in Newport Beach, CA.  After photos were posted on a surf website, word began to spread and requests from around the country poured in from paralyzed individuals asking how they could get involved.

“There are a lot of groups out there that help people in chairs surf,” said Travis Tremble, Founder of Wheels 2 Water, “but the difference between us and everyone else is that we're all about sharing the ocean experience and then going to rehab centers to tell people who have just been put in a chair about what we do. It’s sort of our "don’t give up" speech.”

“For Gravis to look outside the box at ALL types of surfers and sponsor people with such a great passion is an amazing thing and we are very grateful for their support.” The $2,000 dollars worth of Gravis goods will be used as items in a silent auction that Wheels 2 Water plans to host this upcoming spring.  With the proceeds, the organization plans to use the funds for spinal cord research, new equipment and scuba lessons for the riders.
