Quiksilver Big Wave in Memory of Eddie Aikau is off

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 13 January, 2008 : - -  Waimea Bay, Hawaii. 10am -- EVENT IS OFF - The Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau is too stormy to run today. Despite Big Waves and even a few close out sets at Waimea Bay this morning a strong onshore wind has made conditions too stormy to run the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau today.

20 foot (Hawaiian scale) sets have broken in the Bay this morning and whitewater has been rushing past the lifeguard tower. However, the waves are  coming from an unfavorable direction. The world's best big wave surfers, many whom came directly from Maverick's last night, have gathered on the beach along with the crowd of spectators to watch the big surf.
