Futon, Pop Shuvit, Joe Flizzow & Stylustiks DJ’s to rock Sunway Lagoon at Quiksilver Revolution 2.0!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 January, 2008 : - - A world-class surf line-up in the pool, an international selection of freakishly talented skateboarders hitting the ramp, and now Quiksilver and Sunway Lagoon proudly announces Asia’s biggest music acts who will be rocking out in front of an expected 40,000 fans at the Quiksilver Revolution 2.0!

Cutting edge bands Futon, Pop Shuvit, Joe Flizzow and world class DJ’s the Stylustiks are all confirmed in the day’s star studded line-up. Bangkok based band Futon, comprising of six members from around the globe, are regarded as the biggest act to emerge from Thailand in recent years. The electro punk heroes are known for their wicked live performances that blend art, culture, music and visuals between east and west.

Formed on the sweaty dancefloors in the crazy melting pot of Bangkok’s club culture, Futon’s "astonishing head-on car crash between East and West" (MTV) quickly mutated from it’s trashy electro roots into rock ‘n roll punk magnificence with the arrival of ex-Suede drummer Simon Gilbert.  A couple of local No 1s later and the genetically engineered British /Japanese/Thai hybrid are the headline act of the Quiksilver Revolution 2.0.

Currently supporting My Chemical Romance on their Asian tour, Pop Shuvit are making a special trip back to KL to rock their home crowd. Pop Shuvit began making waves in the local Malaysian music scene in late 2001.

Comprising of Moots (vocals), JD (guitars), AJ (bass), Rudy (drums) and UNO (turntables), the band has four successful releases under their belt and rocked fans throughout Asia notably in Japan, Thailand and Singapore. Known for their adrenaline packed live shows and eclectic blend of hip hop and rock, Pop Shuvit are being touted as Asia’s leading Hip Hop Rock band.

Joe Flizzow is one half of the internationally known Hip Hop act of Too Phat. The talented writer, lyricist and producer who has carved out a giant reputation in his home country of Malaysia has performed with the likes of the Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West.

The new evolution in sound, The STYLUSTIKS is an innovative combination of three world class scratch DJ's to create original music. Their funky sounds are sure to reverbrate with the skaters as they spin their tunes from the top of the custom made ramp.

Revolutionary DJ's and veteran Malaysian and Indonesia turntablists Fuzz, Cza, and Uno transform their turntables into non-traditional instruments utilizing select records to produce a musical soundscape of melodies, percussion and tone that is unbelievable.

Each DJ also belong to the top three Malaysian Hip Hop groups in Malaysia; Ahli Fiqir, Pop Shuvit and The Tarik Crew. Individually, DJ's Fuzz, Cza and Uno have competed and won several awards in nationwide DJ championships. 

This new band represents an evolution in live music and can be seen performing at Malaysia's top music awards shows. A STYLUSTIKS show is more than a performance, it's an all out party! Playing music that ranges from expansive experimental jazz, hip hop to explosive funk romps for the dance floor.

One of the world's most unique entertainment venues, and home to the largest man-made surf beach in the world, Sunway’s 18,000 square foot surf pool churns out perfectly shaped waves surrounded by 6,000 tons of sand, palm trees and huts to create a tropical beach oasis within Malaysia's most populated city.

Sunway's usual attractions, including roller-coaster rides, the 360 degree rotating pirate ship, water-slides and South East Asia's only man-made erupting volcano will add to the spectacle.

Aerial surfing specialist Ry Craike (Kalbarri, West Australia), top-ranked professionals Troy Brooks (Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia) and Josh Kerr (Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia) will be joined by Peurto Rican hotshot Dylan Graves and Indonesian star Wayan ‘Betet’ Merta (Bali, Indonesia) as they give a futuristic surfing demonstration to fans.

Starring alongside the surfers is an all-international line-up of skateboarding “vert” specialists who will be reaching into their bag of tricks on a half-pipe skateboard ramp.
 
Two-time German Half-Pipe Champion and world number 13 Sascha Mueller (Münster, Germany), X-Games and World Championship finalist Renton Millar (Melbourne, Australia), European Champions Jocke’ Olsen (Malmő, Sweden) and Jurgen Howarth (Berlin, Germany), and former world number three Trevor Ward (Moama, NSW, Australia) will entertain crowds on a World Cup specification vert ramp imported from Australia, measuring 4.5m high and 13m wide.

While the athletes will demonstrate the skills that have seen them recognized worldwide, the Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 is totally unique in its participation focus and it will give all in attendance an authentic insight into the boardriding lifestyle.

The Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 is a free event designed to give people a unique opportunity to participate and experience the boardriding lifestyle. As such a miniramp has been specially constructed by Australian Ramp Designs for the use by the general public.

Tickets for Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 are now available at all Quiksilver and Roxy stores and Sunway Lagoon outlets. The fan base won’t be confined to those poolside either.Web viewers will be able to enjoy all the action from the one day event, with thousands of viewers expected to log onto quiksilver.com/revolution2 to catch the action beamed worldwide via Quiksilver's live global webcast.
