Four-to-five foot swell needs to clean up to run comp

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 January, 2008 : - - Honolulu - There will be no competition at the Monster Energy Pipeline Pro, presented by Billabong, today due to a disorganized swell that is not yet producing quality rides at the Banzai Pipeline.

A new NW swell started to fill in overnight but is showing the ill-effects of three days of howling NE winds. The swell is expected to angle more to the NW today while retaining much of its 4- to 5-foot (Hawaiian scale) size and organizers are hopeful of getting underway tomorrow morning.

The next call will be made around 7am tomorrow.
