MYSPACE IT!  PASS IT ON!  WE NEED A MASS RALLY AT THIS HEARING. PLEASE GO, AND PLEASE  WEAR BLUE TO THE RALLY TO SHOW BEACH PRIDE!!

On Wednesday, February 6, the California Coastal Commission (CCC) will hear the application for the Foothill-South toll road that will run directly through California's 5th most popular state park. Both president Reagan and Nixon, played significant roles in establishing San Onofre State Beach Park and now it's in danger of having a toll road run directly through it!! This would set a dangerous precedent for YOUR State park system.

This project threatens precious coastal open space, water quality, and the surf break at Trestles. This is a once in a life time chance to be part of such a HUGE meeting.   *** We need an enormous crowd to attend ***    Visit sdfair.com/index.php?fuseaction=maps.home for more directions.

Surfrider has a bus/carpool leaving from the following locations:

    ·        Rob Field (in Ocean Beach/Point Loma) leaving promptly at 8:00am
    ·        Moreno Street Park and Ride (in Oceanside/Carlsbad—at I-5 and Hwy 78) leaving promptly at 8:00am
    ·        Trestles Parking lot leaving promptly at 7:00am

There is space on their buses/carpools. Be prepared, we may need to stay late at the hearing, we do not know how many hours the hearing will be. If you are coming from Orange County, email Robin of the Sierra Club, robin.everett@sierraclub.org.  If you are in San Diego, send email to Stefanie, SSekich@surfrider.org and indicate if you would like to leave from Ocean Beach or Oceanside. If you are driving yourself, please note there is a $9 parking fee.

IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PRIVATE/COMPANY BUS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE TO THE HEARING, PLEASE CONTACT FATIMA RIVAS FOR COORDINATION ASSISTANCE OR IF OPEN SEATS ARE AVAILABLE AT 562-618-3302 or rivasfatima@gmail.com

Public hearings can take a few hours, or can go a long time. We are providing lunch, tee shirts, and posters/signs for all supporters. Be sure to sign up for the coalition. For further information, please see the blog or contact the head organizer of the event, Stefanie Sekich. If you would like to volunteer the Monday or Tuesday night before and make phone calls to remind members, please contact  robin.everett@sierraclub.org.

The Orange County Register is doing a poll online to see how many people do not support the completion of the 241. You can only vote once on the same computer. Please let your voice be heard if you want to preserve this jewel surfing area and click on the statement that states it will damage Trestles.
