Billabong Pro Junior Sebastian Inlet offers Oz wildcard

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 February, 2008 : - - The Billabong Junior Pro, an event Billabong sponsors, is the first stop on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 2008 Junior World Tour. This circuit determines the annual Billabong Junior World Champion on the World Championship Tour (WCT). The top four placing men and top two placing for women for the season will gain an invitation to the Billabong Junior World Championships 2008.

The contest runs March 1st and 2nd, 2008 at Sebastian Inlet, Florida and attracts the hottest male and female junior surfers in Florida. In order for surfers to compete in this series, they cannot turn 21 during the 2008 tour year.The competition is 80 man format, and a limited 16 entry girls division, with standard ASP 2008 Junior Series event rules.

The ASP 2008 judging criteria will be used by four ASP rated judges with the head judge officiating. This Grade 2 event is sanctioned by the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), the organization that controls professional surfing globally. The juniors receive a total of US $12,500 in prize money. $10,000 for Boys Event, $2,500 for Girl’s Event.
