Roxy Invitational Mozambique gears up for Ponto Do Oro

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 March, 2008 : - - The Roxy Invitational Mozambique is an invite-only girls surfing event. A group of the best female surfers in the country have been invited to compete. There will also be a few alternate surfers at the event. 
 
What makes it different?   
The contest venue is in Mozambique, at the perfect right-hand point-break of Ponto Do Oro. This event is the only surfing contest that takes place in Mozambique. The event has a 8-day waiting period and is only going to get run if the waves get good enough. The event slogan says it all - “Serious waves, serious surfing.”
 
What’s it worth?   
The invited surfers are going to be completely catered for by Roxy in Mozambique. Then there is a R10k prize for first place, R3k for second and R2k for third.
 
When is it going to happen?   
The waiting period is from 04-11 March, a time good in southern Mozambique for cyclone swells and favourable winds. The girls are leaving at 2am on Tuesday morning to hopefully meet the east swell that is forecast to hit Mozambique on Wednesday 5th March.

The event is going to have a web presence on the Saltwater GIRL Magazine website where the Saltwater GIRL team are going to be reporting live from the event site. There will be daily updates, as well as news and contest coverage when the event goes down. There will also be a presence on the Zigzag Surfing Magazine – as well as the blunt Magazine website bluntmag.co.za.

While the event is a collaboration between Roxy and Saltwater GIRL Magazine, with Saltwater GIRL Magazine being the presenting sponsor, their partnership is supported by Virgin Mobile and Resolution Health. Other event sponsors include MXit Lifestyle and Supersport.
