Rajzman & Bonga Bounced from Big One!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 March, 2008 : - -  Day two of the Global Surf Industries Noosa Festival of Surfing was greeted with blue skies and improved surfing conditions at Noosa Heads (Qld, AUS) today. The world’s best professional Longboarders hit the surf for the ASP 2Star rated US$10,000 Telstra Men’s Pro with some of the event favourites bowing out early.

The current ASP World Longboard Champion Phil Rajzman (BRA) was beaten by Dane Pioli (1st, NSW), Roger Barros (2nd) and Bowie Pollard 3rd QLD) while Hawaiian ‘Bonga’ Perkins who is a three time winner of the competition also finished fourth behind Rory Hugginson (3rd NSW), Seb Wilson (2nd QLD) and Joe Aaron (1st USA) bringing his run to an abrupt holt.

Both of the internationals were full of praise in defeat and looking forward to enjoying the rest of the week in Noosa. “, it certainly wasn’t part pf my plan to bow out this early but that’s the way it goes with surfing and you really have no other choice than to go with the flow, I will just chill out in Noosa and enjoy all the other aspects of the festival throughout the week now, said a cheerful Perkins.

The Brazilian too not fazed by his early exit, “local knowledge can play a crucial part when conditions are testing and while I didn’t quite find my rhythm those other guys managed to get some better rides. It is good to be here for the festival and now I will stick around to support my friends and really take in the whole festival, said Rajzman.

Former winners Josh Constable and Grant Thomas continued their charge today advancing through to round three along with young gun Harrison Roach. The Queensland trio joined today by fellow Sunshine Coaster Julian Wilson fresh from the Quiksilver Pro. Wilson is now looking to stake a claim on the Noosa Men’s Pro title.
