RUSTY SURFBOARDS’ EPS/EPOXY RANGE NOMINATED FOR SURFBOARD OF THE YEAR BY SIMA

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 March, 2008 : - - La Jolla, California – Rusty Surfboards is proud to announce its nomination for Surfboard of the Year by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) at their 2008 Image Awards. This award goes to the surfboard model that featured the most exciting design, appeal or innovation in 2007.

This year, it was Rusty’s EPS/Epoxy range of surfboards that drew the attention and praise of customers and Industry folk the world over, from Surfing Magazine, who honored Rusty as Shaper of the Year to SIMA’s Image Awards committee.

It is Rusty Surfboards’ commitment to the custom surfboard that has kept the brand on the cutting edge of technology and innovation since 1985. “I have been working with EPS/Epoxy construction for the better part of three decades now, but not until recently have I been able to push it into the spotlight,” comments Rusty.

“To be a surfer now, there are more choices than ever. Better choices and exciting choices. I just want to be able to provide that for my riders and customers.”

The SIMA Image Awards will take place on May 16 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

In the early 1980’s, La Jolla, California surfer/shaper Rusty Preisendorfer was building boards for the majority of the top 15 surfers in the world. Names like Occy and Shaun Tomson sought out Rusty’s designs. It wasn’t until ’85 that Rusty decided it was time to have a go at it in apparel and the signature “R” was born.
