Tahitians Masters to defend the Bronze Medal in Peru          > Espanol abajo

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 March, 2008 : - - Tahitians are ready for the only world surfing tournament for surfers over 35 years old, the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship that will take place in the wonderful Peruvian waves of Punta Rocas, from March 29 until April 5.

After a great performance at last year's Masters in the waves of Rincón, Puerto Rico, the Tahitians won the Bronze medal in the overall team standings, with their outstanding surfers Heifara Tahutini and Heinare Paez winning the Silver Medals in the Masters and Grand Masters divisions respectively. This year, Tahiti is going to Peru once again with a strong team that is looking to repeat or improve last year's result.

The President of the Tahitian Surfing Federation, also a Grand Masters team member who placed 5th last year, Pascal Luciani said, “We´re expecting to stay in the top three countries. We didn´t do special training for the event but the team is composed by all the best surfers from 2007 in each division. We would love to surf the Peruvian waves just to show that Tahitian surfers are part of the best surfers in the world.”

With a strong team and heaps of experience in perfect waves, like Punta Rocas, the Tahitians are also in the short list of favourites.

Los Masters tahitianos defienden el Bronce en Perú

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 March, 2008 : - - Tahití está pronto para el único torneo mundial de surfing para surfistas por encima de los 35 años de edad, los ISA World Masters Surfing Championship que serán realizados en las perfectas olas peruanas de Punta Rocas, desde el 29 de marzo hasta el 5 de abril.

Luego de realizar una gran representación en la primera edición de este evento anual, en las olas de Rincón, Puerto Rico, los tahitianos se llevaron la medalla de Bronce en las posiciones generales por equipos, con dos de sus representantes, los excelentes surfistas Heifara Tahutini y Heinare Paez ganando Plata en la categoría Masters y Grand Masters respectivamente.

Este año, Tahití se va a Perú, nuevamente con un equipo fuerte que está con ganas de repetir o mejorar el resultado del año pasado.

El Presidente de la Federación Tahitiana de Surfing, Pascal Luciani, también representante en la categoría Grand Masters, ubicado quinto el año pasado, comentó: “Esperamos ubicarnos entre los mejores tres, no hemos hecho un entrenamiento especial para el campeonato, pero el equipo está compuesto por los mejores representantes del 2007 de cada división. Nos encantará surfear en las olas peruanas, simplemente para demostrar que los surfistas tahitianos son parte de los mejores del mundo”.

Con un equipo fuerte y mucha experiencia en olas perfectas, como es Punta Rocas, los tahitianos se adhieren a la lista corta de favoritos.
