    Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards this Friday April 11TH      > Francais ci-dessous

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 April, 2008 : - - Newport Beach -- The gladiators of big wave surfing are congregating in Southern California for the 2008 Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards, which unveil this Friday 11th April at the Grove Theatre in Anaheim.

    Regarded as the Oscars of big wave surfing, the 2007/08 awards recognise the world’s biggest and heaviest documented rides over the past twelve months, rewarding the most fearless chargers with serious cash and kudos.

    The big wave swell magnets of Chile, Europe, South Africa, Australia, Hawaii, Mexico, California and French Polynesia came alive in 07/08, serving up a number of gargantuan swells that produced rides in all six categories. In a first for the Billabong XXL, nominated surfers, media, surf industry and webcast viewers will see 1999 World Surfing Champion Mark “Occy” Occhilupo host the eighth annual award’s ceremony.

    In all, over $130,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the world's greatest big wave surfers in this edition of the Billabong XXL Awards presented by Monster Energy. Verizon Wireless is the official communications provider and Honda is the official watercraft of the event. Surfline.com is the exclusive surf forecast of the XXL. The event is sponsored by Surfing Magazine, Hawaiian Airlines and High Surf Accessories.

    From 7:00pm Pacific Time, the world will tune in for all the action from the official awards ceremony LIVE via webcast including a special red carpet pre show. EXPN.com will also simulcast the awards ceremony. ESPN 2 will air a one our feature program on the Billabong XXL starting May 29th at 9:30pm Pacific Time.

    LES BILLABONG XXL GLOBAL BIG SURF AWARDS SERONT REMIS VENDREDI SOIR EN CALIFORNIE

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 April, 2008 : - - Newport Beach -- Les gladiateurs du surf commencent à arriver du monde entier pour venir assister à la soirée des Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards qui prendra place au Grove Theatre à Anaheim ce vendredi 11 avril à partir de 19h00 (heure locale). 

    Considérés comme les Oscars du surf de grosses vagues, les Billabong XXL Awards 2007/08 vont récompenser les surfeurs les plus engagés de l’année ayant surfé les vagues les plus grosses et les plus impressionnantes que mère nature leur ait offert ces douze derniers mois. Les participants sont jugés sur la base des documents photo et vidéo fourni, témoignant au mieux l’aspect spectaculaire et la prise de risque.

    Toutes ces images sont visibles sur le sit  www.BillabongXXL.com . Cette année, des houles gigantesques ont frappé tous les continents. Certaines des vagues monumentales qui ont percuté le Chili, l’Europe, l’Afrique du Sud, l’Australie, Hawaii, le Mexique, la Californie et la Polynésie Française sont présentées en compétition dans les six catégories. 

    Pour la première fois, les Billabong XXL Awards auront l’honneur d’accueillir parmis leurs invités le phénoménal Mark Occhilupo dit « Occy » jeune retraité du Tour et de rendre hommage à son incroyable carrière.
