The Vendee Pro Called Off for Day 3

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 April, 2008 : - -  La Sauzaie – The Vendee Pro, an ASP WQS 4-Star event running until April 20, was called off today due to inconsistent swell and promissing swell forecast for tomorrow. Strong winds and rain have settled over Bretignolles-Sur-Mer, home town of La Sauzaie where sits the contest site.

Iain Buchanan, ASP Europe Head Judge, is confident for tomorrow’s expected swell. “We are on time with the event schedule so far as fifteen hours are needed to finish the Vendee Pro,” Buchanan said. “La Sauzaie could get really good tomorrow and we want to offer these world class surfers attending the event some great potential.”

For the first time this year, the Vendee Pro will showcase man-on-man heats from the quarterfinals, making the show more exciting with top level duels.  Miky Picon (FRA), only ASP Top 45 surfer attending the Vendee Pro, will be in first heat tomorrow when competition resumes. Picon, who is currently No. 29 on the 2008 ASP World Tour ratings, is a favorite in the Vendee Pro and will try to seize the 2008 crown by the end of the week.

Call is set at 12.30 tomorrow Friday, April 18 and Round 2 and 3 are scheduled to finish in consistent 3 to 4 ft waves. The Vendee Pro is LIVE on aspeurope.com. All news, videos, podcasts and photos are available on aspeurope.com.
