    Quiksilver Goodwave
    Presented by Virgin Mobile

    New Pier, Durban South Africa
    1 February - 31 December 2008

    Results/Photos/Videos etc

The Quiksilver Goodwave presented by Virgin Mobile in association with Resolution is on 24-hour Stand-by.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 22 April, 2008 : - - Durban – While the waves at the New Pier are very good this morning, they are not ‘Goodwave good’ and the event is on hold for a start tomorrow morning Wednesday 23 April. The swell charts and the calls from Spike from www.wavescape.co.za are all pointing to an epic day tomorrow, way better than what is available today.

“We have been tracking this swell for a week, and we are confident that tomorrow is the better day of the swell,” said Barry Wolins from Quiksilver. “The swell starts getting an easterly direction in it from later on today and through till tomorrow, and in the history of the event, every time we have had good waves for the Goodwave the swell has had that east in it.”

The meeting time for the event is tomorrow morning at 6am sharp at the New Pier Coffee Shop, and contestants and alternatives are advised to be there on time. Should they not be there for the morning registration they run the risk of losing their slot in the event.

The Quiksilver Goodwave is an invite – only event, with 32 surfers and a number of alternatives selected for the event. The entry fee is still one Rand, the first prize is up to R75,000, with a total of R100,000 prize money, and it takes place at New Pier on one of the best days of the year. To ensure that the contest runs off in the best surf possible, the event has an 11-month waiting period. Wednesday 23 April is now looking like it is going to be one of those magical days that the event organisers are looking for.

All the details, entries, event history, downloads and surfer profiles are available on the event website – www.goodwave.co.za. For sms and/or email alerts as to the event status go to the site and sign up.

The Quiksilver Goodwave will be featured on an upcoming episode of Boardriders TV, the cutting edge locally-produced surf, skate and snow show. The Quiksilver Goodwave is presented by Virgin Mobile in association with Resolution.

    Disclaimer
The Quiksilver Goodwave is an invitational surfing contest and participation is by invitation only. Contestants are selected by Quiksilver in its entire discretion and Quiksilver's decision shall be final. All of Quiksilver's rights are reserved.
