Billabong Challenge - The Challenge is done...   

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 May, 2008 : - - Ai Caramba! After a massive week of surfing somewhere on the KZN coast, the Billabong Challenge is done and dusted. The idea was simple: take a crew of South Africa's hottest upcoming shredders, set them loose in cooking waves with no judges or points in sight, just a big pile of cash up for grabs daily, and let the rest take care of itself .

The result was nothing short of explosive as the crew pushed each other to go bigger, harder, and higher each day as they vied for daily awards like the Most Progressive, Biggest Carve, Balls to the Wall and Top Gun .

In the end, Dale Staples was voted as the overall Challenge Champ by his crew of piers, with Klee Strachan in second and Ryan Payne in third. The other surfers included Mark Shepperson, Kyle Beach, Matt Bromley, Casey Grant and Chad Du Toit, who all went freakin' mental.
