    Layne Beachley searching for sponsor to her WCT event

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 May, 2008 : - - Layne Beachley's annual World Championship Tour surfing event is still not certain to go ahead this year as the seven-time world champion continues her search for a major sponsor.

    Last year's sponsor National Australia Bank elected not to take up a second year option for the 2008 event at Queenscliff. The 35-year-old, who would like a sponsor locked in by the end of May, said she was still confident her successful event would go ahead for the third straight year.

    "In the first year I didn't get a sponsor until July and last year it was August," Beachley said. "There's still time but ideally I would like to have it sorted out soon.
