Carpenteria high crowned Red Bull Riders Cup Ventura regional champs

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 May, 2008 : - - Santa Monica – The Red Bull Riders Cup hit Ventura this week as Carpenteria High took the win becoming the Ventura Red Bull Riders Cup regional champions. In the final game Malibu High took the lead, but with forty seconds to go Carpenteria dominated the 2 foot waves, tying the game and bringing it into overtime.

With exceptional surfing from both teams, Carpenteria won in overtime by one point.  Carpenteria High will compete at the Red Bull Riders Cup National Championships June 14 & 15 at San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente.

The third annual Red Bull Riders Cup, formally known as Red Bull High School Cup, will take the games New Jersey from May 13-15.  Invited high schools are Ocean City High, Southern Regional High School, Manesquan High, and Middletown High.

The National Surf League and Red Bull have partnered to help bring the sport of surfing to a new and exciting level. “The NSL and Red Bull are both companies that are passionate about innovation and bringing out the best performance in surfing. I am very excited to see how we will grow and create a more entertaining and easier way to watch the sport,” says NSL founder Brad Gerlach.
