Greg Emslie to head up Oakley Africa Surf Team
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 May, 2008 : - - It is with great excitement that Oakley Africa announces Greg Emslie’s appointment as Surf Team Manager. Former ASP World Championship Tour surfer Emslie takes the reigns from Seth Hulley who is now heading up Alternative Sports for Oakley South Pacific based in Brisbane, Australia.
Seth responded by saying, “I’m super excited with Greg’s appointment; he comes with a huge amount of credibility and respect in the surf industry having not only the longest run on the ASP WCT but still holding the highest result ever for a South African. I look forward to working with him from across the ocean.”
Emslie will lead the local Oakley team whilst still competing on the ASP World Qualifying Series tour and responded with, “Oakley has always been an awesome company to be associated with professionally, so to be given the opportunity to both work and compete for the brand on the world tour is an honour. Seth has left some large boots to fill; I look forward to providing the team with the support that Oakley has provided me.”
GM of Oakley, Chappy Adshade is thrilled to have him on board and said “Greg is a natural fit for Oakley; his worth ethic makes him the perfect role model for all up and coming surfers. We are stoked to have Greg share his wealth of experience with our team and give them the competitive advantage.”
Another recent Oakley appointment was that of well respected retail agent and no stranger to the surf community, Mark Fine, who will be returning to the Oakley fold as the official agent for the Western Cape. Fine’s appointment was effective as of May 1st and he will continue to work with surf brands Quiksilver and Roxy.
He still enjoys surfing whenever possible, but admits that those days are few and far between. Fine said, “After a long history with the Oakley brand, I am stoked to be part of the team once more; I have always believed that the brand is one of prestige, innovation and high technological advancement”.
