Freestyle Announced as Official Timepiece of Globe Pro Fiji

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 13 May, 2008 : - - Newport Beach -- Freestyle, the original action sports watch manufacturer, announces today its sponsorship of the Globe Pro Fiji as the Official Timepiece.  The Globe Pro Fiji, also known as 'The Sickest Event on the Planet', is a match made in surf heaven for Freestyle, manufacturer of 'The Raddest Watch Ever.'

When Freestyle was approached by Globe regarding sponsorship of the Globe Pro Fiji, Freestyle Marketing Director Chad LaBass knew that the time was right.  “It’s time for Freestyle to step up and support a major ASP event,” said LaBass.  “We’re stoked to be working with Globe on this event and look forward to helping them make it the best event on tour.”

“To have a partner like Freestyle get involved with the Globe Pro Fiji is ideal,” said Globe Surf Marketing Manager, Brian Robbins.  “They’ve been a huge part of all the biggest surf events over the last three decades, and this is another chapter in their timekeeping saga. We couldn’t be more excited to work with them in Fiji this year.”

The competition will take place off of the Fijian islands of Tavarua and Namotu where 45 of the world’s top surfers will compete at the legendary Cloudbreak and Restaurants breaks.  The event will run between May 24th and June 6th and will be broadcast live on the web. 

Freestyle will be presenting the “Freestyle Tube Time Award” to the competitor completing longest tube ride of the event.  The winning surfer will receive $2,000.00 and a special one of a kind Freestyle Timepiece to be unveiled at the awards ceremony.

As the Official Timepiece of the contest, Freestyle will be featured on the Globe Pro Fiji website counting down the time to the start of the event.  During the event, Freestyle’s newest tide-reading watch, the Tide 3.0, will show real Fiji time and the tide data for viewers of the live webcast.
