Drive Thru New Zealand premieres on Fuel TV on May 18

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 May, 2008 : - - Los Angeles, Ca -- Fuel TV, the 24/7 action sports lifestyle network, premieres the sixth installment of the popular 'Drive Thru' surf adventure series 'Drive Thru: New Zealand' Sunday, May 18 at 8:30 pm ET/PT.

This season “Drive Thru: New Zealand” follows pro surfers Donavon Frankenreiter, Benji Weatherley, Pat O’Connell, Alex Gray and Australians Mark “Occy” Occhilupo and Oscar “Ozzie” Wright in search of perfect waves across the pristine coastline of New Zealand.

“This is truly a special season for ‘Drive Thru’ with what could be called the ultimate dream-team cast,” says Shon Tomlin, FUEL TV’s VP of Programming and Development. “Having Occy, Ozzie and Alex join the crew makes this installment of ‘Drive Thru’ the best yet and sure to be a favorite with die-hard fans.”

The “Drive Thru” series is produced by 14 Day Productions for FUEL TV and is based around a two-week trip to a specific surf region with a small group of pro surfers. Past “Drive Thru” seasons have traveled to South Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Central America, and South America.

“This ‘Drive Thru’ was the best ever,” says producer Greg Browning. “Having 1999 World Champ—‘Occy’—on the trip definitely made it legendary, and bringing in Alex added a total naked reality we’ve never had before. Plus, Donavon, Pat, and Benji, I don’t know how it could have been any better. You’ll have to watch the shows to really see it all.”

Some of the highlights of this season include a white water rafting trip, the crew Zorbing, a visit to Bridal Vail Falls, Alex’s nudity, Frankenreiter’s mustache, and great waves the whole crew finds along the way.

Beginning May 18, look for the new season of the six-week series on FUEL TV, with original episodes premiering on Sunday nights at 8:30 pm ET/PT. “Drive Thru: New Zealand” will also re-air Thursday nights at 8:00 pm ET/PT in the surf spot programming block. Promotional photos are available upon request.
