Mambo announces support of local Australian surfing
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 July, 2008 : - - Manly Beach, NSW -- Iconic surf and culture brand Mambo have solidified their support of Australian junior surfing today with the announcement of the naming rights sponsor of the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine.
Taking place at the celebrated Manly Beach, on Sydney’s northern beaches, the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine will see the hottest junior surfers across the nation battling for vital ratings points and surfing supremacy amongst their peers. For Mambo’s CEO, Angus Kingsmill, supporting the biggest and most prestigious Pro Junior event in NSW is something that Mambo is extremely excited about.
“We will support surfing and give the world’s best under 21 surfers the opportunity to showcase their phenomenal talent in arguably the tour’s most pivotal event,” Kingsmill added. “Supporting talent and surfing in our backyard is what we’re about,” he said. “We really want to re-establish Mambo’s core in surf, music, art and having a really good time.” The Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine is the second last event on the esteemed Australasian Pro Junior circuit. Being a seven-star rated event, the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine is of the upmost importance for all surfers looking to solidify momentum and ratings points going into the business end of the year.
“There is extraordinary talent in the juniors today and it’ll be great to see which guys lift when the pressure is on,” Kingsmill stated. Event organiser Adam Hennessey is equally excited at the prospect of forging the event into the future with Mambo.
“We’re extremely excited with Mambo coming on board with the event,” Hennessey said. “With Mambo’s continued support, the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine will no doubt be a unique experience for both the surfer’s and the public alike.” For the winner of the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine, they will receive a luxury boat trip on the Midas MV worth $4000 through the Mentawi Islands.
Running in conjunction with the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine is the Skull Candy Cadet Cup. With an honour roll that includes the likes of Matt Wilkinson and Owen Wright, the Skull Candy Cadet Cup sees the best 16 years and under competitors from around the country doing battle for $500 cash and an opportunity to show their wares in front of a strong crowd at Manly.
Also taking place throughout the event will be the Smith Sunglasses Expression Session where the crowd will be treated to dynamic and innovative surfing and the competitors will be rewarded for pushing the boundaries, to the tune of $500 cash. Over the coarse of the event, the Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine is sure to be an awesome spectacle for the northern beaches surfing community. “This event is steeped in history and is an integral part of the development of local northern beaches surfers,” Hennessey stated. “It gives all local surfers a chance to compete at an elite level in their own backyard; and something for the young kids to aspire to,” he said. Located on the northern beaches themselves, Mambo is happy to be supporting the local community.
“Manly (and the northern beaches) is our home surf and turf and we love having our event amongst such a knowledgeable and tight knit community,” Kingsmill commented. The Mambo Pro Junior presented by Dakine will take place from 18 September to 21 September 2008.
